The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of two works "Siddhartha" and "Demian" by the renowned German-swiss author Hermann Hesse. The aim of this text is a theoretical reflection on different approaches to self-knowledge, which is the central idea of these works. The following text examines the life of Hermann Hesse since his work is largely autobiographical. It also provides a new perspective on the perception of the novel "Demian", which detailed analysis is based on the analytical psychology of C. G. Jung. It focuses on archetypes, symbolism, and mythology. The next part addresses the influences of Buddhist and Hindu philosophy on the creation of the novel "Siddhartha" and identifies its features based on scientific literature
